A variety of ornaments are often used in the Banjara artisan's embroidery from silver, brass, some gold, cowries, ivory and even animal bone! These ornamental addition are considered conspicuous. The numerous cowries that the Banjara tribal women wear are very auspicious as they represent Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity.
The Shisha mirrors are individually hand embroidered on using the Rabari technique which utilizes different shapes and sizes mirrors to protect against evil forces.
These Banjara artisans design work are bold and immediate. The lines and shapes have strength of personality that alludes to symmetry without being symmetric and manages to loosely incorporate geometric principles. They combination of weaving and the rich embroidery and shisha work which are considered a high status symbol.
